On December 8th, TUM’s Center for Educational Technologies will host Prof. Pérez-Sanagustín (IRIT, France). Moderated by our board member Prof. Poquet, they will hold an interactive discussion at TUM’s Think Tank on the international research project ALMA-Analytics for Learning with Machines.
Abstract
As generative artificial intelligence increasingly permeates teaching and learning practices in higher education, future professionals must develop the skills to collaborate effectively with LLMs beyond offloading tasks. Learning sciences have developed solid pedagogical foundations for collaborative learning between humans; however, how much of this evidence applies to collaborative learning between humans and machines remains an open question. What does it mean to collaboratively learn with machines? What do learners need to do so effectively? What kind of technology can even support collaborative learning as a partner? And how can the quality of such collaborative learning be evaluated?
The newly funded project ALMA-Analytics for Learning with Machines, led by Prof. Poquet (TUM) and Prof. Pérez-Sanagustín (IRIT, France), investigates these questions. We invite you to join the project leads in sharing their vision and engaging in a broader conversation about collaboration quality between learners and machines. During the event, you can learn more about upcoming project activities and how to participate, should you want to engage with innovation in university teaching and learning and to reflect on these practices. We envision an informal, interactive session that fosters productive discussion about learning with machines, not from them.
Speaker: Prof Dr Mar Perez Sanagustin, IRIT
Moderator: Prof Dr Oleksandra Poquet, TUM
Guest Biography

Mar Pérez-Sanagustín is an Associate Professor at the Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III (France) and a researcher in the Talent Team of the IRIT – Institut de Recherche Informatique de Toulouse. She heads the ANITI Observatory, a collaborative hub for sharing, experimenting, and advancing pedagogical innovation with Artificial Intelligence in higher education (https://aniti.univ-toulouse.fr/). Prof Perez Sanagustin is also an associate researcher at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), where she founded the T4DLab and continues to collaborate actively. Her career includes research appointments at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, a Fulbright fellowship at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI), and a post as Vice-Dean of Engineering Education at PUC. Her research explores self-regulated learning in MOOCs and blended learning settings, MOOC-based hybrid methodologies, collaborative learning with mobile devices, and engineering education.
