Designed to support children on their journey towards becoming strong readers, SARAkids provides personalised, motivating reading support. As young readers often find it difficult to articulate their problems during the reading process, SARAkids uses eye tracking to detect these problems in real time. It then provides visual, auditory or multimodal support to help the child recognize a word or understand the context. These interventions are generated dynamically and are thus adaptable to different texts, interests, and skill levels.

The tool is being developed at the Chair for Human-Centered Technologies for Learning at TUM and has been made possible through a private donation. Its aim is to provide children with an easy-to-access reading companion to support them in their independent reading practice at home or at school. By offering personalized, real-time assistance, it ensures that every child has the necessary resources to become a confident reader and learner, regardless of their individual starting point.
